Cornerstone Kitchen
A charming breakfast outing at Cornerstone Kitchen in Truckee with Matt, Frankie, and guest Adele. We review the cozy vibes, standout French toast, and homemade sausage, plus why we’d come back for the bakery.
First Impressions
As soon as we stepped into Cornerstone Kitchen, the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods welcomed us. The space is quite small, with only three tables inside, making it feel intimate but potentially cramped during busy times. Luckily, there's a big front patio that's perfect for dining al fresco—great for enjoying a sunny Truckee morning. Despite being one of only two occupied tables inside, the service was notably slow, which was a bit disappointing as we were on our way to horse camp.
What We Ate

- Frankie & Adele: Both enjoyed the challah French toast topped with warm berries and syrup. While the warm berries were a nice touch, Frankie preferred them served on the side.
- Matt: Opted for the sausage, gravy, and egg breakfast sandwich accompanied by crunchy potatoes. The sandwich was flavorful, though a bit heavy for a morning meal. The jalapeño cheddar bread didn't have a pronounced flavor, but the overall taste was satisfying.
Fun Menu Finds
Cornerstone Kitchen offers some unique dishes, such as the Croque Madame, adding a touch of European flair to the menu. Their homemade sausage, prepared in a Smash Burger style, showcases their commitment to fresh, in-house creations.
What Could Be Better
The primary drawback was the slow service, especially given the limited number of patrons at the time. Additionally, while the food was tasty, the portion sizes and presentation could be more consistent.
